A debut winning 2YO at Randwick Vanbrugh completed a hatrick of wins early in his 3YO season including the Gr.3 Gloaming Stakes prior to a dominant victory in the Gr.1 Spring Champion Stakes.
This season Vanbrugh ran 4th to Winx (Street Cry) in the Gr.1 George Main Stakes before winning another Group race at Melbourne’s Spring Carnival where he defeated 2017 Gr.1 Doncaster Handicap winner It’s Somewhat in the Coongy Handicap.
Vanbrugh is a son of multiple champion sire Encosta De Lago, whose influence continues unabated through both his daughters and sire sons.
Encosta De Lago has sired Gr.1 winning 2YO Manhattan Rain, whose daughter She Will Reign won this year’s Gr.1 Golden Slipper. Encosta De Lago is also sire of Gr.1 winner Northern Meteor whose sons at stud include Shooting To Win, Zoustar, Deep Field and Eurozone.
The strikingly handsome Vanbrugh, winner of more then A$745,000, hails from a foremost Waikato Stud family. His dam, Sydney winning 2YO Soho Secret, is a daughter of the outstanding Centaine broodmare Professionelle, a sister to leading filly Starcent.
Professionelle has produced four stakes winners including Gr.2 winners Sportsman and Prisoner Of Love and is closely related to Gr.1 winners Diademe and Sacred Star.
