Smart 2YO wins again for Charm Spirit

28 JUL 2018 | BY RACENEWS

Charm Spirit (Invincible Spirit) filly Bailly continued on her winning way in the Magners Irish Cider 2YO Race at Down Royal in Ireland overnight.

Highly regarded by her connections, Bailly has now won the last two of her three starts and she proved too strong over the 1000m journey, a stepping-stone towards future higher honours.

"That was lovely”, commented leading trainer Ger Lyons.

“She's a filly with plenty of ability though 1000m is way too sharp for her.

"She just wants to please and our job is to teach her to put the pieces together quietly.

"The Gr.3 Curragh Stakes is the next obvious target for her and she is going to be better with a year on her back.

"We are going the right way - onwards and upwards."

Charm Spirit has arrived at Windsor Park Stud, his southern hemisphere base, to commence his fourth consecutive season there.

The highest earning son of his champion sire Invincible Spirit (Green Desert), Charm Spirit has already sired 11 individual first crop European 2YO winners.

The triple Gr.1 winning miler had first southern hemisphere yearlings sell to $400,000 at Karaka this year.
