Exciting New SW for High Chaparral
29 Jul 2012 |
Lightly raced mare High Kin (4m High Chaparral x Kinzan, by Kinjite) posted her first Black Type success in the Listed Taumaranui Gold Cup at Te Rapa in New Zealand on Saturday.
The David Greene trained four year-old has been in hot form this preparation reeling off three consecutive wins before her first attempt at stakes company in the 2100 metre feature.
She rose to the challenge, defeating a big field of 16 runners to win by the best part of two lengths in a dominant display, her overall record now four wins and two placings from just nine starts.
High Kin was a bargain purchase, snapped up for just $11,000 from the Timberlee Thoroughbreds draft at the 2009 NZB Festival Yearling Sale.
She is one of four winners, but the first stakes-winner from Kinjite mare Kinzan, whose dam is a half-sister to Melbourne and Caulfield Cup winner Let’s Elope.
High Kin is the 37th stakes-winner by leading sire High Chaparral, who returns to Coolmore Australia this year at a fee of $77,000.
